The Urine Sugar Test (Urine Glucose Test) is a simple screening test used to detect the presence of glucose (sugar) in urine. Normally, urine contains no glucose, because the kidneys reabsorb it completely. Sugar appears in urine only when blood glucose levels exceed the renal threshold (~180 mg/dL), or when the kidneys are unable to reabsorb glucose properly. The urine in sugar test screen for diabetes mellitus, monitoring diabetic control.
